Drinking Water Treatment

Michigan's water supply systems provide over 400 billion gallons of water each year to residential, commercial and industrial users. While most of this water comes from the Great Lakes and connecting channels, over 1 million Michigan households have wells that tap groundwater sources, more than in any other state. Surface water sources include: the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair (Detroit ), Lake Huron (Flint), Saginaw Bay (Bay City, Midland and Saginaw), Lake Michigan (Grand Haven and Grand Rapids), Lake Superior (Marquette) and the Huron River (Ann Arbor).
