The Great Lakes Ecosystem

The consumers in a food web eat either producers or other consumers. They have to find food in order to survive. Within a lake, zooplankton are the smallest consumers in size, but they form the largest group of consumers. Some fish in a lake rely on zooplankton for food; others rely on benthic organisms.
