Wetland Ecosystems

A bog is a wetland that gets water only from rain and snow. Because of this, bogs often have very few nutrients. Therefore, plants that live in bogs must adapt to this low level of nutrients.

Common plants, animals, and insects in a bog are:

  • sphagnum moss
  • labrador tea
  • moose
  • eastern newt
  • dragonfly
  • mosquito
