These thermal photos illustrate the energy escaping from a house. The red and white areas in the left image show warm air leaving a house. The bright blue and green areas on the right show cold air entering a house. Notice how the windows are a major source of air leaks. Air leaks and poor insulation are one of the major pathways of home energy loss. An average home can waste up to 30% of their energy use because of air leaks.
