Energy can be generated from solid waste in 2 different ways.

Waste-to-Energy Plants (Incineration)

This type of generator burns trash (that would otherwise go to the landfill) to create energy.

Otter Tail Power Plant

Otter Tail Power Plant is a refuse-derived power plant.

Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE)

This type of plant gets energy from the gas emitted by the landfill.
