R/V Agassiz

Reservations

Updated February 22, 2005

  • Michigan Tech faculty and staff may reserve the Agassiz via the calendar on this web site. Off campus users should contact Dr. Marty Auer for details.

  • Fixed-date reservations will be scheduled for only three days of each operational week (Sunday through Saturday) to insure that user needs will be met. Users may request standby reservations for the balance of the week. These will honored if and when fixed-date reservations are satisfied.

  • A confirmed fixed-date reservation commits the user to paying for the fixed-cost portion of that reservation. In the event of cancellation, every effort will be made to accommodate the user’s desires in re-scheduling.

  • The 2005 fixed-cost use rate is $232 per half day (up to 4 hours), $427 per day (up to 8 hours) and $49 per hour beyond 8 hours. Captain's fees are $36 per hour. Fuel charges are estimated to range from $17 per hour for sampling-intensive use to $34 per hour for running-intensive use. Typical 4 and 8 hour cruises are expected to cost $478 and $919, respectively.

  • In the event of scheduling conflicts, priority for use is as follows: fixed date classes > research > flexible date classes > other MTU use > off-campus users.

  • Users are asked to work together to resolve scheduling conflicts arising from unmanageable circumstances, e.g. equipment, personnel, vessel, or weather problems. In the event that conflicts cannot be resolved by users, final decisions will be made by the Vessel Oversight Committee Co-Chairs (see Contacts).
