Creating a Module - General: Media Clips

Audio Clips

An audio clip may be linked to or embedded in a web page. To link to the audio clip, select the text for linking and do Link > File on My Computer... and browse to the location of the audio clip on your computer. Contribute will upload a copy of the audio clip upon Publishing. When the web visitor clicks on the link, the audio clip will play if the appropriate audio player is installed on the visitor's computer.

If audio needs to be embedded directly into the web page, send the audio clip to Tech Alive services with a request to embed the clip.

Visitor support for audio will be created as specific audio formats are requested by authors.

More Information

Media Clips and Browser Plug-Ins

A media clip will not always open automatically, even if the appropriate software is installed on the visitor's computer. This will depend on how the software is plugged into the browser and how the clip is embedded. The media clip may play automatically in Internet Explorer, but not in Netscape.

Having a media player plugged into the browser isn't absolutely necessary. A visitor can always download a copy of the media clip to their computer and play it directly.
